Frequently asked questions
What is a Unix timestamp?
The number of seconds since 00:00:00 UTC on 1 January 1970 (the Unix epoch). JavaScript and many APIs use milliseconds instead, which is why some timestamps have 13 digits.
How do I tell seconds from milliseconds?
Present-day timestamps have 10 digits in seconds and 13 in milliseconds. CodeForge detects this for you.
What happens in 2038?
Systems that store Unix time as a signed 32-bit integer overflow on 19 January 2038. Modern 64-bit systems are not affected.
