Privacy Policy

Applies to all versions including the Microsoft Store release.

1. Core Tools — Fully Local Processing

CodeForge's core developer tools (JSON formatting, Base64 encoding, JWT decoding, regex testing, hashing, color conversion, etc.) process all data entirely on your device. Nothing you paste, type, or generate in these tools ever leaves your machine.

The app does not require an account, login, or registration of any kind.

2. Local Storage

The app stores a small amount of data locally on your device using the browser's localStorage API. This includes:

• Your preferred color theme (dark or light)
• Pinned favorite tools
• Last-used inputs in certain tools
• Usage engagement data (tool use counts, streak days — never transmitted)
• Your license key and activation ID (Pro users only, stored locally to avoid re-entering)
• A session token for AI credit tracking

This data never leaves your device except as described in Sections 3 and 4 below. You can clear it at any time by clearing app storage in your device settings.

3. AI Features — Data Transmission

CodeForge offers optional AI-powered features (e.g., Regex Explain, JSON Repair, Mock Data Generation, SQL Explain). When you choose to use an AI feature:

• Your input is sent to our server (a Cloudflare Worker) for processing by an AI model (Cloudflare Workers AI). This is necessary because AI inference cannot run locally in a browser.
• Your input is not logged or stored on our server. Only the feature name, response latency, credit cost, and model used are recorded for operational purposes.
• AI responses are cached on the server for up to 60 seconds to support free retries, then automatically deleted.

AI features are entirely opt-in. If you never click an AI button, no data is ever transmitted to our AI processing server.

4. Server-Side Logging

When you interact with our backend server (for license activation, AI features, or session synchronization), the following operational request metadata is retained in our application logs:

• Country derived from Cloudflare request metadata (your full IP is not stored in our application database)
• User-agent string (truncated), used for support debugging
• License key prefix (first 8 characters only)
• Request type, result status, credit cost, model name, and response latency
• A random correlation ID for support troubleshooting
• License/session metadata required to verify Pro access and AI credit identity (pseudonymous session token or license identifier)

Purchase and license verification are processed through LemonSqueezy. If a webhook fails to process, a copy of the webhook payload may be retained temporarily in an error table so the purchase can be recovered. That payload can include order identifiers supplied by LemonSqueezy. It is not used for advertising.

The following are never logged or stored:

• Your full IP address
• Text or data you enter into any tool (including AI inputs)
• AI-generated responses
• Names, email addresses, or contact details
• Browsing or search history

5. License Verification (Pro)

CodeForge offers an optional Pro upgrade purchased via LemonSqueezy or the Microsoft Store. When you activate or validate your license key, the app sends your license key and a device instance identifier to our server (which proxies to LemonSqueezy) to confirm your purchase is valid. A signed session token (JWT) is returned and stored locally for offline Pro access.

LemonSqueezy handles all payment processing. We do not receive, store, or process any payment or billing information. For details on how LemonSqueezy handles data, see the LemonSqueezy Privacy Policy.

6. AI Credit Tracking

To manage AI feature usage, CodeForge assigns a pseudonymous session token to each device. This token is used to track your AI credit balance (bonus and purchased credits). It is not linked to any personal identity — no name, email, or account is required.

7. Internet Connectivity

CodeForge is designed to work fully offline after the first load. The app connects to the internet only to:

• Load Google Fonts on first use (then cached locally)
• Validate your license key when Pro is active
• Synchronize your entitlement and credit balance
• Process AI feature requests (when you explicitly use an AI button)
• Process purchases via LemonSqueezy

No user content or personal data is transmitted during these operations beyond what is described in Sections 3 and 4.

8. Third-Party Services

Cloudflare — our backend runs on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare may process request metadata (IP, headers) per their privacy policy. We do not store your full IP address.

Cloudflare Workers AI — AI feature inputs are processed by Cloudflare's AI inference service. Inputs are not used for model training and are not retained after processing.

Google Fonts — used to load typefaces on first run. Google may log font requests per their own privacy policy. After initial load, fonts are served from local cache with no further requests.

LemonSqueezy — used for license key activation, validation, and payment processing (Pro and AI credits). Only the license key and device instance ID are transmitted.

No analytics platforms, advertising SDKs, or crash-reporting services are integrated.

9. Children's Privacy

CodeForge does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Since the app collects no personal data from any user, it is safe for users of all ages.

10. Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the revised version will be published at this URL and the "Last updated" date will change. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
